Serious about not being serious

Art said "yes" to me long before I ever said "yes" back. For many years, I kept it on the margins of my life. Only recently have I begun to rediscover and reclaim this space.

JUST IN

My latest work, unstructured but a lot of fun.

Threads of life

My favorite pieces live in the space between painting and crochet — where nets stretch across the canvas, wrapping the image and telling a story of their own. They become windows for escape, threads of color that match and clash, small openings that reveal who we are beneath the surface.

lost words

Apenas fazer, sem precisar de aprovação

Validação.

Querer impressionar.

Na busca de um olhar.

Causar uma reação.

A sensação de estar perdida.

E no meio de uma eterna corrida

não sei onde vai chegar

e a razão de continuar.

Só sei que sigo, ofegante,

na esperança de um instante

finalmente me encontrar.

written texture

Giving new purpose is at the heart of what I do.

The beauty of the printed word, the colors of lifeless paper, the silhouette of a cutout, the pages of forgotten books, subway cards collected over the years …

We always speak with the words of others. So why not reuse them in the physical life too?

across the seasons

The life–death–rebirth cycle. As a native Brazilian who spent her twenties between Germany and the US, I learned to appreciate the seasons as the ultimate reminder of nature’s and of our own cycles.

As a woman, I see myself as a gatekeeper of those rhythms: the rises and falls, the confusion and clarity, the constant flux of our brief existence on this universe. Or are we the universe?
